Dear TCCFA member,

It's that time of year again where we ask you to continue your support of the Toronto Canada-China Friendship Association by renewing your membership.  Our 2016-17 season has a wide range of speakers including expert-in-their-field authors and the Jiaozi Party - a favourite of members and guests.  Of course, our Annual Banquet is coming up soon and we would love to see you and a guest there.  See below for more information.  Thanks again for your continued support; you help make it possible to continue our work.

- Upcoming Events for Autumn 2016 -

Coming up on September 19th is our Annual Banquet, this year to be held at the Gold Mark Chinese Cuisine, located at 7501 Woodbine Avenue in Markham,, 6:30 pm cash bar, 7:00 pm dinner, with lots of free parking.  Get your tickets soon!

On Sunday, October 23, author Glen Norcliffe, Professor Emeritus of Geography at York University, presents excerpts from his book Inside the Fourth Furnace: The Rise, and Fall, and Rise of Chongqing.  This event is held at the campus of the University of Toronto, 252 Bloor Street West, OISE, Room 5510 at 2:00 pm.  Be sure to attend this very informative presentation.

On Sunday, November 27, the TCCFA presents Han Dong, MPP for Trinity-Spadina at OISE, Room 5150 at 2:00 pm. Han Dong was born in Shanghai, China and moved to Toronto when he was 13 years old.  He was elected MPP in 2014.

Our 2016 Banquet will mark the opening of TCCFA's ninth year and coincides with the celebration of China's National Day on October 1.  China's National Day is one of the most important dates of the Chinese calendar.  The earlier Canadian China Society Annual Banquet was always held close to October 1 to mark the changes that the revolution made to the lives of the people of China, and now to the world.  Of course, we cannot hold the dinner on the Anniversary itself as our friends at the Consulate would be too busy to join us with their own events.  At our Banquet, please join representatives from the Consulate and fellow TCCFA members for an evening of friendship and fine food.

Thank you,

Michael Copeland
TCCFA President
